In Episode 6 of Orb: On Movements of the Earth, the story deepens as Oczy introduces himself to Badeni, hoping to entrust him with the documents hidden in the mountains. Initially, Badeni dismisses the stranger, reluctant to waste his time on someone he hardly knows. But as he reflects on his life, he realizes this could be his chance to unlock the mysteries of the cosmos. Agreeing to join Oczy, he insists on one condition: Oczy must observe the movements of Mars. When Badeni finally sees the documents, he is electrified and begins contemplating the idea of publishing their contents—an act that would challenge the authority of the church.

Orb: On Movements of the Earth (Season 1) Episode 6 “Move… The World” Recap:
The episode begins with a conversation between Badeni and Oczy. Upon seeing Oczy, Badeni asks him for an introduction, since they have never met before. Oczy says he has come hoping to show Badeni some documents. The only thing Badeni wants to know is if these documents will change his life. Oczy says that it will anger the church, and after saying that he hands over Gras’s observation of Mars to Badeni. He is impressed as a common man with very little knowledge of planetary movements and has observed the movements of Mars so well. Unfortunately, Badeni does not remember Gras as the Abbey in Badeni’s old church would force him to talk to ordinary people. Furthermore, Badeni explains that Gras has overlooked the fact that planets have a retrograde every two years. Since Gras did not know about this, he stopped observing Mars’s movements.
Sadly, Badeni does not think this is worth his time. However, Badeni wonders why he should stay in church. In a flashback, we see Father Abbot overwhelmed by Badeni’s work, as Badeni is able to solve problems much faster than a group of 10 people. Unfortunately, his skills get Badeni in trouble. The church did not like Badeni to study more than required, and there was a punishment for it.
Badeni is asked to whip himself once for speaking out of turn, but he whips himself so much that he starts to bleed. The reason Badeni does this is because he wants freedom to study. Unfortunately, the Father forbids Badeni from studying for the time being, not because Badeni does not have the skills but because he is immature.
Will Badeni join Oczy to look at the documents?
Now, Badeni questions Father Abbot about the planetary movements as the land below the moon’s plane is supposed to be imperfect with creation and destruction, but everything above it needs to be perfect. Sadly, that is not the reality of the cosmos. The only way to solve this mystery of retrograde is to read the documents in the hidden room that are written by heretics and infidels.

However, Father Abbot does not allow Badeni to look through the documents. Dejected Badeni walks home when he stumbles upon a forbidden book in the Father’s chamber. Before Badeni could open the book, Father Abbot and the others entered the chamber. Now, Father Abbot gives Badeni two choices: either to drop the book and leave or get punished. Knowing the consequences well, Badeni opens the book.
The punishment for the crime is to burn Badeni’s eyes. Unfortunately, because of this, Badeni cannot see from one eye and wears an eye patch. In the present, Badeni stops Oczy from leaving. Curious Badeni agrees to look at these documents on one condition, and that is for Oczy to observe Mars, as Badeni needs it for his research as well. The condition scares Oczy as he has a fear of looking at the sky.
When Oczy expresses his fear, Badeni thinks Oczy is joking. In the mountains, Oczy contemplates whether to go through with the task or run away and start his life from the low ranks. Just before giving up, Oczy realizes that Gras and the heretic are the only two people who believed in this world and died with satisfaction. This thought was enough for Oczy to overcome his fear and look at the sky.

Can Badeni’s Experiment Uncover the True Movement of the Planets?
The next day, Oczy meets Badeni and hands him the observations. Seeing the markings, Badeni is satisfied as this is Oczy’s first attempt. When Badeni and Oczy reach the mountain, he is thrilled as he believes the documents will change the universe and upset the church. Now, Badeni surely believes that these documents, once interpreted properly, can be published.
Since Oczy can’t read, Badeni tries to simplify the writing in the document. The problem has been that planets have irrational movements, and each planetary body operates on its own. This is based on Aristotle’s theory of the concentric sphere and Ptolemy’s eccentric and epicycle theory. So Badeni creates a small experiment. Since all planets are believed not to move forward because of retrograde, humanity has been struggling to solve this mystery.
However, even while in retrograde, planets have been moving forward. Now, Badeni starts moving in a circle, asking Oczy to run fast towards the center. When Oczy does that, he acts as Earth, and for a split second, it seems like Mars or Badeni is slow and moving forward. This is how it appears from Earth’s point of view.
Will Oczy’s Journey with Badeni Change His View of Earth and the Heavens Forever?
When Oczy/Earth catches up with Badeni/Mars, it seems like Mars is retrograde from Earth’s point of view. Now, Badeni makes a statement that takes Oczy aback, as Badeni says that earth and heaven are parallel to each other. By this, he means that life on Earth is an extension of Heaven and that Earth is not the worst place to be. For the first time in a long time, Oczy finds the night sky pretty.
Thanks to Gras and Badeni, Oczy overcomes his fear of looking at the sky. It also seems like Oczy will start to appreciate the Earth a lot more now. The story is now delving deeper into complex theories of the cosmos, with each new character bringing us closer to a greater understanding of the universe.
Once Badeni reads and interprets the documents, we’re bound to uncover more about humanity’s progress in unraveling cosmic mysteries. For Oczy, spending time with the highly educated Badeni promises to be a journey of knowledge and learning. Yet, as their partnership reaches its height, a looming sense of tragedy hints that something unfortunate may befall either Badeni or Oczy.
